Individual experiences are inherently unique and therefore require a similar approach in therapy.
There are many reasons why people seek therapy. No matter where you fall in the equation the world we live is often confusing, upsetting, and can appear unfair. Despite the difficulties that accompany our lives there is great potential for happiness, positivity and growth no matter what circumstances arise. Individual therapy can be beneficial for everybody and can facilitate personal growth.
Couples enter therapy for a variety of reasons. There might be problems in the relationship around communication, trust, sex, or intimacy and some couples even seek therapy because they have reservations about continuing or ending a relationship. In my experience, couples put a lot of work into their relationship before even considering couples counseling. Couples counseling can rework dysfunctional patterns and inspire healtheier ways of relating.
LGBTQ folks face unique sources of mental distress. Some of them include coming to terms with one's sexuality, facing homophobic attitudes, and rejection from loved ones. At times they can impact many areas of life such as self-worth, relationships and even our occupation and career choices. Our culture has taken enormous steps to empower the LGBTQ community but we still have a long way to go. Whether you are struggling with an issue directly related to your sexual orientation or seek the comfort of talking to a like-minded individual I can help.
